Drugmaker Pfizer is launching a generic version of its pain reliever Celebrex, but the company may also be launching an oral form of the drug.
Pfizer said in a news release that it is working with the Food and Drug Administration to determine whether a generic version of Celebrex is medically necessary.
The drugmaker said it plans to begin selling the drug at a higher price point.
Pfizer Inc. said in a press release that it will continue to market its drug to customers in the United States and Canada and that the generic version will continue to be marketed as a cheaper, generic drug.
The generic version of Celebrex was introduced last November.
